The Win Project
Los Angeles World Airport Project
Vernon Ribbon Cutting and Open House
October 23, 2002

In Partnership with Los Angeles World Airports, CMTS/Gateway Move on Housing, The Win Project has removed houses from land purchased by LAWA, and moved them onto vacant lots in surrounding communities.

The lot acquired for this project was purchased with the assistance of Anchor Mortgage, the house was purchased from LAWA for the price of one dollar, moved to a vacant lot in South Central Los Angeles and reconstructed under the management of the South Los Angeles Development Group. The current project on this page had an interested buyer prior to completion of construction.

The benefits of this partnership are many. The neighborhood receives a brand new house in a formerly unattended and blighted vacant lot which may have been considered undesirable by other home developers. This helps increase the value and incentive to improve the surrounding properties. Local workers are hired to construct the project, increasing the economy. The individuals who purchase the new home live in housing they can be proud of, one that is up to code and allows for proper living standards. Even the environment benefits from the fact the house is recycled, and did not end up in an ever increasing landfill. The reality is when partnerships are created with a common vision and efforts are made to overcome the problems we face in housing today, the benefits can truly be astounding.

The Win Project would like to thank all those involved in making this project a reality.
